1 down, 6 more to go

I realize this comes a little late but I wanted to mention that Chichen Itza is one of the new 7 wonders of the world. There was the first ever global election of the new 7 wonders of the world and they were announced on 7/7/2007. Pretty cool, huh? So once you visit one, it’s almost like a challenge to visit the rest of them. I think my next wonder will have to be the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. I didn’t even know there was an election but if I did know, I would have definitely voted for the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain and the Alhambra in Granada, Spain. Both are phenomenal works of art. The Alhambra was a finalist though! It was originally built in the 13th century by the Moorish and was home to royalty. If you ever get a chance to go, please do. I have been twice! And the Sagrada Familia is Antoni Gaudi work of art, however it is not completed so I am not sure if that disqualifies it from being a candidate for one of the 7 wonders of the world. It was started in 1882 and is still not finished.

Goal: See all 7 wonders. Why not? Sure, many might say this is a marketing tactic and these historic phenomenas could lose their “mystery” that were so unique to them in the first place. Regardless, we live on referrals. If the world is telling you this is a cool place, it probably is and is probably worth your time. Besides, what better excuse to travel?
