Today was the 24th Annual National Night out. It was originated to help prevent drug and crime in neighborhoods. Our neighborhood took part in this event. Someone in the neighborhood volunteers to host the gathering in their front yard. We had ice cream and drinks and socialized with the neighbors.

I think it is so important to meet your neighbors and learn who they are. You feel way more comfortable when you go on vacation and feel a responsibility to watch out for your neighborhood. It also helps keep crime out. Sometimes, neighbors can be nosy or the neighborhood association can be strict on certain housing rules but at the end of the day, you’d much rather have that rather than not knowing who your neighbors are. It’s a safe, secure feeling knowing who lives in your hood.
