It is the 20 year anniversary of this famous slogan. As we all know, “Don’t Mess with Texas” was a campaign initiated to help reduce littering on Texas highways. It has definitely done a tremendous job as littering has decreased by 52% since 1995 according to http://www.dontmesswithtexas.org.
Furthermore, “Don’t Mess with Texas” has become a globally known slogan. It has really gained Texas popularity and when you think of Texas, you tend to think of this slogan. It is such a confident, masculine slogan. I guess as a Texan, it makes me feel proud to be a Texan as cheesy as that may sound. We (Texans) have this whole “bigger and better” attitude than those other pansy states. Ok, I will stop sounding like a Texan snob.
Well, “Don’t Mess with Texas” has been nominated to be America’s Favorite Advertising Slogan. It is going up against “Just Do It” and “Got Milk.” Votes are open to the public and the winner will be join the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk of Fame. So cast your vote today!
