Sarah Jessica Parker style in San Antonio
I am a big fan of Sarah Jessica Parker. I really never knew much about her until Sex and the City. And I really never knew much about Sex and City until my friend Candice turned me onto it. Thank you Candice.
I have always loved fashion. I always try to wear something new everyday. I don’t like repeats. I try to mix it up a bit. That doesn’t mean I have a big wallet, because I don’t. In high school, I used to hit 3 to 5 thrift store shops on my way home. I dug and dug for cool things. I actually won “best dressed” in high school. Granted, I did go to a private school and had only a class of 90 people but still, I was proud. haha.
I don’t shop at thrift stores anymore, however, I do search for good deals. I do have my favorite stores: Zara, ArdenB, Anthropologie. When I travel, I try to hit a boutique that will sell something I can’t find anywhere else. My favorite shopping is SoHo in NYC. Fun!
So when I was introduced to SJP, I was like, wow! She is not afraid to wear new things. She is very bold yet keeps it beautiful at the same time. I was instantly a fan.
Then I hear she is coming out with a clothing line. Well so was every other celebrity out there. To me, rather than expressing their true style, people were looking for another way to make money. So I wouldn’t say I was thrilled but I was definitely curious.
I visited her website and heard all the rave about it. When I found out what her philosophy was, I was instantly thrilled! Her belief is that “fashion doesn’t have to be a luxury, it’s a right.” You shouldn’t have to spend a fortune to look stylish and cute. So her clothing line, BITTEN, sells nothing over $20. How can you make stylish, quality clothes and sell nothing over $20? I wanted to find out.
Her clothing line is being sold at Steve and Barry’s. Steve and Barry’s is company committed to selling quality clothing at 50-90% cheaper than competing retailers.
Steve & Barry’s® is about changing the way that consumers shop for their clothes and changing the way that retailers cater to them. Steve & Barry’s is about stripping away the gloss and giving consumers something real.
So I suppose SJP figured this was a perfect match. I had never heard of Steve and Barry’s but there is one located on the Southside of San Antonio, Texas. That’s right, the Southside, not the Northside.
I drove out there this past weekend. It’s a single store located off a busy street. As we drove up, I wasn’t sure it was the right place until I saw the sign. It looked like an old Walmart. The parking lot looked a mess. When we walked into the store, I realized that the location was not a reflection of what was inside. It was bright and clean. Clothes, clothes, clothes! It was set up somewhat like an Old Navy. It almost felt like I was at a clothing design warehouse and all these clothes just came out. There was no advertising lingo, what you saw is what you got.
I was stoked. It really felt like SJP’s thoughts were put into each piece of clothing. I just feel like other celebrity clothing lines were designed by a staff they hired and their names were just branded on these items. For SJP, it was different. It was like she was in the back designing away.
The pricing and quality was unbelievable. I hate to try on clothes but I had to make sure the pants fit right. I mean for $10, you have to expect that they are bad quality and will fit very awkward Not so. They fit perfectly and they were good quality. Jeans for $10! And they were brand new, not resell. Sweaters, jackets, skirts…it was so much fun! BITTEN sells a variety of clothing basics for everyday wear. Clothes to wear to school, work, the grocery store, wherever. Simple clothes, great price, a little touch of fashion. (One thing to take note is that the sizes do run small. I had to buy one size up than my normal size. )
BITTEN has officially been added to my everyday wear shopping list.
