Early Morning at the Zoo, Caught the Monkey Bully
| August 10, 2011 | Posted by Angela under Family Stuff, Local Places & Events, Why I like San Antonio |
One of the biggest advantages of having a San Antonio Zoo membership is being able to enter the zoo before the doors open. Zoo members get to enter at 7:30am, all other guests, 9am. What does that mean?
1) Less heat
2) No crowds
3) Animals are out playing!
I took Jacob last week and we saw some interesting animal interactions. The monkeys were our favorite and we spotted a monkey bully. Check it out.
Then we saw ducks playing the mating game.
And to top it off, we took a nice train ride through Brackenridge park. My son was flirting with this beautiful little girl sitting behind us.
It was an adventurous day with my son.
Busy Being a Mom, Among Other Things
| March 15, 2011 | Posted by Angela under Family Stuff |
Jacob is now 4 months old and I couldn’t be more blessed. I was home for 10 weeks, thanks to Rackspace, and was able to bond with the baby and really discover the gift of motherhood. Things happen you don’t expect, like
- Learn to eat with your left hand (if you’re right handed)
- Leave the house without brushing your teeth
- Allow your hair to be frazzled
- Forget about work
- Cry for no reason
And I am sure as life goes on and Jacob grows older, many more surprises will be in store. I am back to the office now and feel greater than ever. Work is busy, I am still coaching volleyball and we are in the process of remodeling our home. Above all though, family is most important. Balance is the key word for describing my life right now.
Waiting for @jacobbartels

Jacob should be arriving any day now. As we wait for his arrival, I am thinking about the era Jacob will be born in and thought it would be neat to document some of the 2010 highlights:

My cousin Renee joins the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders Volleyball Team
| August 11, 2010 | Posted by Angela under Family Stuff |
You may remember a post I wrote about my cousin’s high school volleyball team being featured on the front page of the San Antonio
Express News Sports section for making it to the final four of the 5A State Championship. She was a senior at the time and preparing for college. She has decided to join the Texas A&M Corpus Christi Islanders team. They have already begun practicing and she was mentioned in the Islanders athletic blog today, Trio of Freshmen Setting The Future for Islanders. They quote:
The biggest factor working in favor of the Islanders and the players is the athleticism shown by all three newcomers. Logen Bourque, Renee Ramirez and Brittani Loux will be the three newcomers helping run the Islander offense. Bourque is the tallest of the three, standing at 5-11, while Ramirez is 5-5 and Loux is 5-6.
Way to go Renee! We’re so proud of you!
